Bonfire Annihilation

This past weekend we went to Pittsburg to Cody and Rachael's property for the 1st Annual Bonfire Annihilation. Although it was FREEZING we had a really nice time. I suppose even though on Mythbusters they busted the myth that alcohol actually warms you up, it at least lets you ignore your extremities and your true inner cold (Thank you Mike's Hard Pomegrante!). This trip did remind me that drinking is a bad idea and the following morning proved to be the worst. Even a trip to Braums for a breakfast sandwich was a bad idea, I did finally eat that at about noon though. I think that the best part of the night was watching the mice run from the fire, back to the fire, then back out of the fire until they realized that fire is bad and they should stay away from the humans. Or, the best part could have been when Cody had to go to the next property down to let them know shooting in our direction is really not that good of an idea and that perhaps they should aim the other way, which was not a problem for them, hey thanks folks.

Finding a Happy Clean Place

So I've been on a real kick lately to keep my house cleaner. A friend of mine turned me on to http://www.flylady.net/ and it's been a real help. I like that each week you concentrate of decluttering one area of you house so that you don't get overwhelmed. This week is the master bedroom and I got the dresser cleaned off last night and the nightstands are tonight. It's one thing at a time. I've kept my kitchen and bathrooms clean - spotless - since Saturday and it's actually not that hard. I have never been a huge fan of cleaning, but this makes it a little easier to manage. I am looking forward to decluttering my life one room at a time. I'm really scared to make it to the spare bedroom though, so much has piled up in there!
I am working hard on my knitting and I have two blocks done so far which is really a relief.
Here are pictures of my two blocks so far:

I'm not sure what design #3 will be but I think that I'll work on my Felted Candy Corn wreath that I want to make for myself. I also bought some material to begin making Christmas presents for family members and such, seems like I have a lot to get done prior to Christmas getting here but with my new found way to clean the house I should have PLENTY of time!

More of the Same

My first two colors picked for my afghan block exchange. I am in the winter circle, we're doing all icy colors. I can't wait to get started!

Long Days

Work has been irritating lately to say the least, I've been working alone as my assistant hasn't been able to come to work for various reasons the past two months. I find myself not wanting to work and doing things like blogging or devoting all my time to ravelry and searching for yarn sales. I really need to find some focus! On a different note, I've been knitting a ton lately and I have really started to enjoy it more than I did before, I supposed that is what happens when you spend half of your day shopping for yarn and discussing yarn. I'm working on a block for my afghan exchange group right now but once that is done I am beginning a Felted Candy Corn Wreath. I haven't designed my pattern yet, but I bought the yarn, it's quite yummy. I put up 6 jars of pickles the other night and canned the tomato harvest from the previous week. It's starting to get cold here and I'm not sure how much longer I can get good food from the yard. I really neglected the garden this year and will have to devote some time this fall to getting it worked over well for the winter and ready for spring. I'm thinking about trying some potatoes over the winter...we'll see. I've got Zuch's on the counter begging to be used, perhaps this evening I'll make some bread.
